A Ton of Changes!

Welcome one and all to Genfanad’s very first update! We’re very excited to show you guys everything we’ve been working on, as well as all of the random tweaks and improvements we've made to the game.

Let’s get right into the content. There are gonna be two new areas to check out, one that can be found in the Peridot Plains region, south of Reka Valley— with a new quest waiting to be fulfilled. Second would be your first glimpse into the new Kosten Ridge region, which you’ll find east of Reka Valley!

Along with that, you’ll also find that you’re now able to control the camera with WASD, water-filled buckets and jugs are no longer consumed when using them to craft soft clay, and the death timer has been increased from 4+4 -> 5+15. There are plenty of new QoL changes like these, so be sure to read the patch notes!

Other than that, we’ve also been doing a ton of bug fixes, which wouldn’t be possible without your guy’s continued support and help in updating our public bug tracker.

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg in regard to everything we’ve changed!

Some Rebalances to be Aware Of!

We’ve also done a few adjustments and rebalances for gameplay. A few notable changes include:

1. Exp rates for combat and botany have been adjusted and should be notably higher.

2. Rats and slimes around Cent are no longer aggressive.

3. Multiple adjustments have been made to tutorial content (more XP given, tokens dropped, etc).

4. Magic damage has received a small buff.

Most recipes are now tradeable to other players (but can’t be sold to shops).

Bonus XP for fighting monsters of a higher level than your own have been slightly increased.

And much more! Again, be sure to read up on the released patch notes for this update if you want to know all of the improvements that were done.

Below is a statement our Lead Designer Cory wanted to add to give some insight on the XP rebalancing:

A Word from our Lead Designer

Hey, everybody!

It's been a crazy week. After our big XP snafu, I've had to basically put everything else I was doing on hold to revisit all our XP curves. It's a big job that requires a lot of data, and I'm very much still in the process of working on it.

So I wanted to make a quick statement about this patch to fill everyone in on what to expect. First of all, you'll probably notice that a few XP rates have actually come down. You might be thinking, "really!? DOWN!?" Yes!

One of the things I'm trying to do is bring the rates in line with each other in terms of their relative values, because trying to adjust the rates of an individual thing while the overall rates are in question is a pretty fruitless task. I can assure you though, that rates in general have actually come up a LOT.

You'll see the biggest boost to XP in combat XP gained, where there's been something like a 40% average increase to the XP each individual monster gives. Melee combat is the area I was MOST concerned about, so it was my priority for this update, and it got the most love! Next is Botany XP, which came up a little bit.

You can actually gather botany really fast, so I'm trying to be conservative here. I haven't looked into the other skills nearly as much yet, since this actually takes a lot longer than you might expect. But I did want to be sure to let you all know that yes, this IS a very large increase to melee combat XP, and also that the changes are absolutely NOT done!

I'll be continuing to monitor as I always am, and if I see the need for further buffs, I'll be sure to get them in as quickly as I can. I would have liked to have gotten more done before the XP weekend, but there are just so many hours in a day :')
